Student 1
Student 1 teaches English at a 10th – 12th grade high school in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. This is her first year teaching. She is experienced with technology, and teaches regularly with an iPad provided by her school district. She has been trained in ways to use the iPad in the classroom. This student’s native language is English.
1. What is the estimated time to complete each lesson?
Introduction: 10 – 15 minutes
Pre-Test: 10 minutes
Lesson 1: 20 minutes
Lesson 2: 1 hour
Lesson 3: 20 minutes
Overall: About two hours
2. Is the purpose of each page clear? Why or why not?
Yes. Each lesson builds on the other. The titles, menu at the top, and the navigation make it clear where you are in the website and what is next.
Lessons 1 and 2 are clearer than Lesson 3 in explaining the purpose of each page. Lesson 3 just looks like research. The purpose of Lesson 3 doesn’t seem to match the context of the other pages. I am not sure what to do with it. What do you want learners to learn?
The quiz in lesson 1 doesn’t match the context of the lesson. Were we supposed to learn about writing lessons somewhere?
3. Do all of the links work? Please specify which do not.
One of the navigation buttons at the bottom in Lesson 1 takes you to a page in Lesson 2.
4. Do the graphics add to or detract from the purpose of the pages? Please explain.
The graphics and video are nice and are helpful.. The introduction page needs graphics, so does the Lesson 2: Increasing the Level of learning with apps page. The Bloom’s digital taxonomy page looks good. I like the prezi on the Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy page of Lesson 1.
Can the comparisons on the Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy page be higher on the page or made more obvious so we know they are there?
5. Does the text add to or detract from the purpose of each page? Please explain.
The text on most pages is good. The intro page gives nice links to the next pages and is a good length, but it is a little wordy. It would be better with more graphics, organized differently, and not so many words.
The ISTE NETS page is wordy, but not visually unappealing. It is easier to read than the overall introduction page. There is good information.
Lesson 3 has different buttons and fonts. Check the format and font on the reference page.
6. What do you like best about this website?
I liked the Prezi and the research and information fluency pages. There are some nice apps in the research and information fluency pages.
7. What would you like to see changed in this website?
Change some of the positions and graphic organizations of the text to make the pages more to the point.
8. Do you feel three objectives presented in this website were met?
Yes. The objectives are met with first two more so than the third. I see the intent of this in Lesson 3, but it could be clearer.
